The story
At De Breek Swimming Pool, a summer day is about swimming, meeting neighbours and a familiar welcome. Behind the scenes, manager Rowan Nieuwenhuis handles everything from purchasing to bookkeeping. As manager, he works with a seasonal team of 12 to 20 staff and volunteers.
That calls for a system that stays simple at the till while giving Rowan a clear view of what has been sold. With Booqi, De Breek brings those two needs together.
The challenge
De Breek is a seasonal swimming pool, open for around four to five months a year. During those months, the team wants to welcome visitors efficiently and keep daily sales running smoothly. That requires a system that is simple for staff and volunteers while giving the manager a clear overview.
A familiar till, quick admission and insight into sales: at De Breek, those elements need to work together. Rowan wants to review daily sales and share clear reports with the bookkeeper, while the team focuses on visitors.
The solution
With Booqi, Rowan configured the dashboard around the way De Breek works. The till is straightforward for the team, while he can clearly track sales behind the scenes. This combines ease of use at the counter with insight for the manager.
Visitors can buy a ticket online or purchase a single ticket at the till and pay by cash or card. The existing handheld scanner was connected to Booqi. Season passes are also scanned on arrival.
Booqi offers a range of access control options, so every venue can choose what suits it best. De Breek Swimming Pool deliberately chooses an open entrance with personal contact and a handheld scanner connected to Booqi. Visitors feel welcome from the moment they arrive, while the pool retains the open, friendly atmosphere of a close-knit village community.
More insight behind the scenes
For Rowan, reporting makes a big difference. He can review sales by day and produce a monthly report when the bookkeeper requests one. This gives him a clearer view of both ticket sales and food and drinks.
“It is really helpful that you can print those reports so clearly,” Rowan explains. He can also produce clear reports when closing out the season. Booqi helps him keep the administration organised.
Support that makes a difference
Whenever Rowan has a question, he contacts Booqi directly. The team helps with configuration, connects the scanner and is there when support is needed. He particularly values that personal partnership.
Ready for the next season
With a simple till, a connected handheld scanner and clearer reports, De Breek has a way of working that suits both the team and the character of the pool. Volunteers can welcome visitors efficiently, while Rowan has more oversight behind the scenes.
That leaves room at the entrance for what makes De Breek special: a village swimming pool where people know each other and enjoy the summer together.
